They have a real passion for honey and truly understand all its benefits.  We also love honey, especially for the delicious taste and health benefits it brings to our product.  This explains why Allison’s Apiaries and their customers have come to love Yippee Cayenne.

Honey has been used as a health booster and natural remedy for thousands of years — even as far back as Aristotle and the Ancient Greeks! It can also be used as a sweetener and sugar substitute for those who can’t — or choose not to — eat sugar.

So what are the benefits of honey? We’re glad you asked.

Energy

Honey is nearly all sugar — unprocessed, natural glucose and fructose — and gives your body the sugar it needs for a quick burst of energy. This natural sugar can enter directly into the bloodstream and raise your blood sugar. This rise gives your body an energy kick and provides a short-term power source for workouts.

Allergies

Some research has found that eating a tablespoon of honey every day can help with seasonal allergies. Honey is made from pollen and the finished product contains traces of pollen, which act like a vaccine and help your body build immunities to seasonal allergens.

Wounds and Burns

A natural antibiotic, honey can work to heal your body from both inside and outside and has been used to fight infections, soothe inflammation, and reduce swelling. In fact, before penicillin was discovered as a powerful antibiotic, honey was used to prevent and treat infection!

Dandruff

A European study published in 2001 found that applying honey, diluted with 10% warm water, to the scalp and leaving it for three hours can treat dandruff. Participants in the study showed improvements in itching, scaliness, and skin lesions within two weeks! The anti-inflammatory properties in honey can also help with redness and itching of the scalp.

Sleep

When eaten, honey can produce a rise in insulin and release serotonin, a neurotransmitter that can improve happiness and mood, and tryptophan, which is converted to serotonin. Serotonin is then converted to melatonin, a chemical compound that regulates the wake and sleep cycles.
